Maintenance Tips for Your Body,Car and Home

Most everything needs some basic maintenance and sometimes it can be simple to overlook some things that need attention every now and then.

These are three maintenance issues you shouldn't forget. Keep them in mind and you will have a great spring and summer!

Car maintenance

Check your vehicles coolant and refrigerant. Before it gets too warm outside or if it already is in your area make sure your car has enough coolant to prevent overheating. Even a pinhole leak can cause the loss of coolant, and when a hot engine coincides with a very hot day, you can have issues. An overheated engine can lead to severe engine damage. This is one time that thinking ahead, and maybe spending a few dollars on maintenance, will help you save big bucks on a costly repair. If you dont know how to check your cars coolant, stop by a local shop or ask them to do it the next time you have your oil changed.

Home Maintenance

Check to make sure your homes air conditioning system is working. For most of us, if our air conditioner quits in hot weather its a hassle. For some folks, especially people who have allergies, asthma or other breathing problems, an A/C that quits on a very hot day can lead to more severe problems. Plus, getting an air conditioner replaced in July when contractors are very busy helping other people who forgot to maintain their system can be very expensive. It's always a good idea to check an older system every year. Depending on how heavily it is used, start at about 8-10 years old. Youll stay warmer in the winter, cooler in the summer, and more of your money will stay in your pocket with proper HVAC system maintenance!

Body Maintenance

Keep yourself hydrated. Your body needs coolant as well, right? Whenever you are heading out to do something active, whether it is work or play, drink more water or sports drinks than usual before you ever leave the house. And take those same kinds of fluids with you. Remember, caffeinated beverages and alcohol should not be used to keep your body hydrated. Since dehydration can cause you to get fatigued while working or can lower your performance on the golf course or softball diamond, the worst-case scenario can cause heat stroke or death. This is another area where an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

By making these maintenance issues a priority, you will avoid expensive repairs or issues that can be much more severe.
