How Attention Deficit Disorder Can Destroy Families

In most cases, Attention Deficit Disorder can be quite frustrating and hurtful. The most common situations are the late proper diagnosis of the condition and also the symptoms of the illness were not comprehended well. These situations may result in imposing more mental and heartwarming strain to the family that has ADD challenges. Also, this illness can definitely be very difficult for those in that specific home.

A child who's suffering from ADD is obviously the first victim. Though these children possess a strong desire to display ordinary behavior, their behavior can be impulsive. This impulsive actions often will get disciplined. Because of these punishments, these children often develop really low self-esteem. More often than not, the parents and teachers are either not aware of or usually do not believe that the child does have a disorder and thus don't act in a mature as well as mindful way. Once the child is scolded or punished for his abrupt behavior, the child believes he will never be up to the mark and meet others' expectations from him.

The next victims with the said ailment would be the child's parents. These people would begin to question their parenting capabilities and also be very frustrated about it. Usually, they would be criticized by these people around them by giving the perception that they are not really disciplining the youngster properly that causes the child to stay in rebellion. They lose confidence in being a parent. Then, they might most probably deal with the other due to this and the conflict between them can bring harmful effects on their relationship as well as marriage.

Other siblings also are affected by the illness even though it can't be seen at first sight. The disappointment and distress that is felt by their entire family would eventually be transferred to them. They will start to be angry to their own sibling because of the kind of treatment that the first victim needs due to the illness. The lack of control of the primary victim may also lead his/her siblings to get physical accidental injuries. The siblings can also gain ridicule from their neighbors or schoolmates. ADD can give a great deal of turmoil for the sister/s or brother/s of any child who has it.

Soon after having an effect on all the members in the household, ADD can spread its problems for the extended family such as the grandmothers, grandfathers, aunts, uncles and cousins of the first victim. This would all rely on how much closeness that the immediate family members have with all the mentioned people above. Thus, the family members have to talk about ADD and the approaches to proper training with its members along with other relatives to prevent any conflict.
