There are many reasons that you are having difficulty losing weight. Will power is a huge obstacle to overcome when trying to lose weight. It could also be the wrong diet or exercise program. In other cases, a medical reason may be playing a role. These might be some of the factors that are causing lack of weight loss. If you are stressed, that can make it hard to lose weight. Several things can be the reason for this. To relieve tension, sometimes we think eating will help with our stress. We also don't choose the best foods in these situations. The most fattening and calorie-rich foods are the comfort foods most people turn to when they are feeling stressed. According to researchers, we are more likely to choose high calorie foods when we are stressed because of our body's natural reaction to "fight or flight" type situations. When you are under pressure and don't have a lot of time while under stress, you are not as likely to prepare healthy meals.

Your weight loss efforts may be encountering roadblocks along the way because of your snacking habits although you may not acknowledge it to be so. Cookies, chips, donuts and other snacks filled with fats, sugar and carbohydrates - all of these combined together in small quantities will still result to weight loss failure for the obvious reason that calories are still being consumed in excessive quantities. If you are serious about calorie counting, everything that enters your mouth must be accounted for including the in-between snacks since these foods still contains calories with most of these snacks being unhealthy ones. One way to change this habit is to bring healthy snacks with you, such as low fat yogurt, salads or vegetables, so you have something to munch on in between meals.

There is a large amount of proof that being short of sleep can be a critical factor when it comes to expanding your waistline. When you don't get the recommended amount of sleep, it misaligns your entire metabolism, and this usually means and odd increase in appetite. Also, you tend to feel run down and you may try to compensate for this by eating more foods you think will give you energy, such as sweets and carbs. So if you have any problems with sleeping, you should deal with this problem, as there are several setbacks connected to not getting the needed amount of sleep. If you have awful insomnia, you might necessitate some medical recommendations, yet in a lot of situations you can get more sleep by going to bed at an earlier hours and decreasing the stimulants in the evening.

There can be tons of reasons why you're having a challenging time at losing weight, and we've only talked about a few of them here. At times you need to be relentless and enthusiastic toward testing out different methods. If you believe a medical problem could be your quandary, consult your physician and have some tests run for likely problems, for example a thyroid issue.
