Do not start dieting because of vanity and refrain from seeing it as something depriving or else you will surely fail. Superficial reasons are usually things that are short term in nature. It is important that your reasoning serves as your motivation for you to succeed. It is important to have some form of support when you want to succeed when it comes to quick weight loss plans so do it with other people. If either one of you falls into a diet plateau, the others can be great support systems. With them, you will not find dieting as hard work but comes more naturally so you will lose a few pounds more quickly too.
